Holiday on TV!
Workshop on MAGIX Xtreme PhotoStory on CD & DVD 7
Too many pictures are lying unseen on harddisks. Today, almost everybody has a digital camera and most people have tried to sit infront of the PC or linking the camera to the TV in order to watch the digital pictures. This gets very fast, very boring. Especially, with pictures from the summer holiday somehow the atmosphere is lost when they are presented like this. No sound, no effects, no transitions – as good the holiday and the pictures of it might have been, something is missing!
With specialized software it is very easy to get the summer feeling back into the pictures. The MAGIX software Xtreme PhotoStory on CD & DVD 7 is easy to be installed on PCs and because its intuitive interface fast to understand for everybody. The PC should be equipped with at least one GHz, 512 MB Ram, a SVGA graphics card with at least 4 MB RAM and a soundcard. After the installation and starting the software, we come to the start-page of PhotoStory on CD & DVD. Just start a new project by typing e.g. „Holiday 2008“ in the field „Create new disc project“. Important to remember here: a Disc-Project can later contain more than one photo-show!
A click on „ok“ brings you to the clearly arranged main interface of the program. This is your distribution centre for all kind of optimizing, arranging and creating. On the left side of the screen, there is a big preview window. Here you can watch your pictures, previews of the shows and of every effect and transition. On the right side of the screen, there is the media pool. Here you can check your own media (pictures, music, even videos) and what is offered from the software (transitions, text, movement, effects). On the bottom part of the screen, you will find the „timeline“ - which by MAGIX also is called Storyboard. Here takes the main „story building“ of your photo show place.
To transform photos into a photo show, you just drag and drop them from the media pool on the right side of the screen down to the timeline – or the Storyboard. A big advantage: every photo that is choosen in the media pool is shown as preview on the left side. Also, when you already have put a couple of photos in the timeline just press the „play“ button (the triangle button below the preview window) and you can see a first preview of the photo show.
When you are not satiesfied with the order of the pictures – no problem. Your own order is just a click away: mark photo and pull it wherever you want to have it. Depending on the size of the photo show, the timeline might offer a too limited view on your pictures. Just change to the overview-mode with one click on the symbol to the left of timeline and you can see all your pictures.
A classical effect and, yet, also one of the most stylish to revamp your collection of photos is the transition. The delivered amount of transitions is opulent – from the classical cross fade over 3D effects to picture-in-picture transition: All transitions can be previewed in the left window and need just to be dragged-and-dropped on the pictures in the timeline. Also, you have the possibility to add camera movements, text, 3D fun effects, etc to every picture. The collection of effects is almost unlimited.
Of course, music from every source (CD, mp3, etc) can be added too. Furthermore, MAGIX is offering the Soundtrack-Maker which automatically creates individual background music to match the mood of your photos. So, if you still have that Oriental music in your ear from the last trip to Miditerranean, but you can't remember a singer or band name – no problem: Just chose a style like „Relaxed“, set the mood to „Jazzy“ or „Happy“, add or remove „Emotions“ and let the program do the rest! That's how easy it can be to get the summer feeling back into your photos.
You added transitions, effects, the camera is moving in and out of the pictures, fun-effects have revamped some rather uninteresting motifs and a nice summer-holiday-score is to hear in the background – what now? Of course, you want to share these memories with your closest. Go to the „Burn“ symbol. Beside exporting your photoshow into an online album, you can burn it on CD or DVD. You have different Menu Layouts for the menu that later will be shown, when you put the DVD into the player. With a double-click you get a preview of the chosen DVD menu. If you cannot find a fitting template there is the possibility in the „advanced mode“ to create the menu on your own. If you have chosen your menu layout just press on the burn DVD symbol.
If you have a slideshow with many photos, effects, different sounds, etc it might take some time to convert the presentation. But after that you have an unique photoshow with sounds, effects and transitions that you easily can show on TV and which is much closer to the atmosphere of the last summer holiday than any alternative presentation will be.
