Easy Personalized Website Creation
Anyone can create their own homepage and publish it online. Whether for private or professional use, more and more Internet users are starting to want their own website. A successful self-representation on the Internet is especially important when a job application is coming up. Even for inexperienced applicants, website creation is an important point to dedicate some extra energy to. Website Maker has been conceptualized as a simple and powerful tool for creating both functional and attractively designed websites.
Although the option is available to design your own homepage from the bottom up, beginners are especially recommended to choose one of the numerous website templates for customization. These templates include everything that a website should feature, and all of their details can be changed and even redesigned. For this reason, templates are ideal for concentrating on the topic at hand. The following illustrates how any template (here: "postcard") can be used to create an application homepage.
Since this website should be designed slightly more formally, the template selection should probably leave out "My Music" and "My Videos". To remove these, click with the mouse on the check mark in the box in the upper right. "Add" will confirms the selection and Website Maker will open to begin the actual website creation [screen].
Website creation with MAGIX Website Maker
The menu bar on the left side of Website Maker is divided as follows: pages, objects, and properties. Click with the mouse on "Pages" to open a dropdown menu to select and view of any of the homepage's subpages. The subpages will only feature placeholder text and images at this point. A list of different objects is also available in the dropdown menu. All of the page's objects - e.g. text, images, etc. - may be freely edited in the preview window. Text may be edited just as with any word processing program: Simply write into the selected text object or select and overwrite an existing block of text (placeholder). To move an existing object, select it with the mouse and drag it to the desired position. To add new objects, click the second menu item, i.e. "Objects"; a list of over 500 website building blocks are located in different galleries to make your website creation more interesting. All objects (images, design elements, or text fields) may be selected (via "Drag-and-Drop") from the menu and then dropped onto the website. The size and position of objects may be adjusted manually. If even more detailed changes to the objects are desired, then the third menu point, "Properties", becomes important. Different properties (like movement and transparency) may be added to each subpage on the website. The object in question simply needs to be selected and the "Properties" dropdown menu needs to be opened by clicking it. A series of properties are provided here, e.g. options like "Opacity" or "Color", which are all able to be set with different intensities . The lower the opacity level, the more transparent the object will appear [screen]. The other properties behave analogously. More properties may be applied to an object, which has a practical advantage for designing: In addition to transparency, the color of an object may be adjusted to match the scheme of your own website.
Making a homepage with personal photos
To make your application website more personal, you might add some of your own media, like photos. To load these into the program, the "Objects" menu contains an "Upload" button. The uploaded media is also available in the "Uploaded media" menu and may now be dragged into the project. If an image (or another object) is supposed to be visible on every subpage, then it will have to be set as the "Background". The image has to be selected in the "Pages" dropdown menu, which displays the background surface, basic elements, and the title of the website for you to change. If a photo is added to this page, then it will be visible on each subpage. After images and objects have been swapped, the following changes will be able to be made compared to the original website:
- in Background: Change the title and add an image
- in the Pages menu: Rename subpages individually
- in the Objects menu: Upload your own media
- Subpages (subpages) are able to feature personal content (text, images)
- in the Properties menu: Customize objects however you like
- you may publish at your own Internet address
Your website may be published for free at your own MAGIX Internet address (e.g. www.yourname.magix.net).However, your own exclusive domain (www.yourname.com) may be set up for a fee.
Since website creation can take a lot of time, Website Maker also offers the "Website Wizard". It may be selected from the start and describes step-by-step how the templates may be customized with personalized text and images. Finally, your website may be published with a click. There simply isn't a quicker and easier method of professional website creation.
