Movie Edit Pro celebrates its birthday!

Whoever loves films and would like to edit themselves is offered an all-around Partner for their projects in Movie Edit Pro – and that for many years already. Movie Edit Pro, the most successful video editing software for home use, has turned 15 years old. We’re celebrating this special occasion with an incredible Anniversary offer and a look back at the past 15 years of one of the world’s most popular video editing programs.

The moment Movie Edit Pro was born

We remember the first year of the 21st century:

  • George W. Bush became President of the United States of America
  • Microsoft released Windows XP
  • The 1st Apple iPod became available in stores
  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone came to theaters
  • Nickelback soared to the top of the charts with How You Remind Me
  • The Baltimore Ravens won Super Bowl XXXV

Movie Edit Pro also made its debut during the business year 2001/2002 and arrived on the marketplace in diverse countries. Conceptualized as a complete package for video editing software by the MAGIX Software GmbH, the program won the hearts
of video editors far and wide. Since 2003, the program has been the most bought video software in Europe and continues to
hold this position to date.

The highlights in the first version were, among others, the for that period an incredible 16 tracks of audio and video, numerous video frames, transitions, and video effects for the image optimization, and the integrated CD-archiving function. Even though the range of available features has since drastically grown and cannot compare to the latest versions, the first features of the oldest Movie Edit Pro were pivotal in laying the foundation for the coding design of the following generations of Movie Edit Pro.

“As Movie Edit Pro came into the world 15 years ago when we were just a small German company, we wanted to help make professional video editing accessible to everyone. Today, we’re proud to look back at one of our greatest accomplishments, and what we have achieved working together with our users and that exactly this type of cooperation and ambition will push ahead innovation in the field of video software.” – Jan Janowsky, Product Owner of Movie Edit Pro and Video Pro X.

Movie Edit Pro and the support of its worldwide community

There has been almost no software solution for video editing, which has received such positive review in specialist publications as Movie Edit Pro. As the winner of many product comparisons and collector of awares – almost 1,000 awards in the past 15 years – the program has established itself worldwide in almost all countries. Whether Germany, France, Italy, the USA, Thailand, or Morocco – Movie Edit Pro is available in nearly every country and the user interface has been translated into nine languages.

One notable reason for the global success of the program has come from YOU, the users of the software. Movie Edit Pro and the developers behind it have worked closely together with users since the first release. User feedback – whether suggestions for new features, reports of bugs, or general input about the program – is collected by our team continually and integrated into our workflow.

The result can be seen as a software which is “from users – for users”. For example, the multicam editing feature’s origin goes back to one user: Eckhard Stoll from Meschede, who brought the specific request for this improvement. Eckhard’s story is a perfect example of how the world is growing closer together and how one small idea from the Sauerland can inspire millions of users globally.

One special highlight for all video editing enthusiasts in German-speaking regions is the annual, independently-organized user meet of the Community. The idea came into being at the suggestion of Stefan “obimad” Werner in a MAGIX-unrelated forum called mx-cutterboard.de. At the meeting, the users have the opportunity to discuss video editing techniques and practical equipment with other passionate users.

MAGIX employees have been fans of this independent event as well and the product managers enjoy attending. For us, this represents an exciting and important event at which we have the opportunity to meet users personally.

In case you have ideas or wish to take part in the development of Movie Edit Pro, please contact us via one of our many social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud) or become an active member of our user Community on magix.info. We are excited to hear
your feedback and suggestions!

Continual innovation and growing demands – the basis of the 15 year success story

There is no long-term experience necessary to crop and edit video footage to create good-looking films. Movie Edit Pro begins at this point with the goal of supporting its user in the implementation of their idea as best possible. The software comes into play in important steps in production as a high-performance tool and offers professional-grade features in an easy to learn workflow. This has always been our goal since the moment the software was born 15 years ago. Video editing at a high level, but accessible for everyone – this is our success story with Movie Edit Pro.
