An integral studio component – the sequencer

A sequencer is an electronic device or a program for recording, playing back, and editing music.

Today, the sequencer is above all a component of music programs and is an integral part of the proccess to make music. The most important component of a sequencer on a PC is the digital score. This "virtual music sheet" utilizes MIDI to provide information about pitch, sound duration, and other aspects of the notes being played back as required. Audio tracks may also be synchronously recorded and played back.
