Business Divisions
To be consistent with our various sales channels for products and services, our business activities are divided into three main areas "Portals", "OEM" and "Professional und Consumer".
In all three areas we are constantly expanding our database of registered customers.
Portal
In the Portal division, MAGIX operates under www.magix.com and other websites its own online portal through which the customer can purchase directly from MAGIX an extensive range of software, online services and digital content for the design, editing, presentation and archiving of digital photos, videos and music.
Thus, in addition to the possibility of purchasing MAGIX's software products, MAGIX offers visitors of its own online portal a variety of services - some of which are already available on a mobile basis - such as an online photo and video album, an online photo printing service, a music shop and an online media catalogue. MAGIX calls these online services, digital content and the ability to use these services with MAGIX's software from various digital terminal equipment (e.g. PCs or mobile phones) the "iPACE" multimedia platform.
Within this platform, MAGIX also offers various applications for online communities, which enable their members, for example, to acquire and exchange digital - mainly personally created - photos and music and related communications.
The Portal division also includes the provision of services above all for operators of high-traffic online portals. MAGIX integrates into their online portals individual or multiple online services, software solutions or digital content, such as the online photo and video album or the online media catalogue, in order to offer these via such operators. In this respect, operators of third-party portals usually use only a portion of MAGIX's range of services. The services falling within this division include, inter alia, customer-specific adjustments (customising) of MAGIX's software and the provision of storage capacity (hosting) for digital content of the customers of operators of third-party online portals and of OEM partners.
OEM
The OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) division covers the distribution of licenses for use of the software products developed by MAGIX and the offering of various online services and digital content via OEM partners, which manufacture mobile or stationary digital terminal equipment such as camera phones, cameras or video cameras, MP3 players or PCs.
MAGIX's software, online services and digital content make it possible for such partners to expand the range of functions of the equipment manufactured by them in order to thus stand out amongst the competition and to generate greater customer loyalty. In this context as well, OEM partners usually use only a portion of MAGIX's range of products and services. The services provided by MAGIX for OEM partners also include customising MAGIX's software. In addition, MAGIX sometimes also provides customers of OEM partners with storage capacity for their digital content (hosting). The Portal division provides customising and hosting for OEM partners and their customers.
Professional and Consumer
The Professional and Consumer division, which is thus far the greatest revenue generator among MAGIX's three divisions, is responsible for classic retail distribution domestically and internationally of the software products developed by MAGIX for the design, editing, presentation and archiving of digital music, photos and videos by private users.
Thus MAGIX distributes its software to private users in Germany, various other European countries and the USA via high-volume retailers such as Media Markt, Amazon, Dixons, Fnac and Best Buy.
The Professional and Consumer division also covers the licensing of professional software directly to commercial users such as various German and international radio and television broadcasting companies and music producers.
