Video Editing: Editing A Movie Using Raw Film Material

The concept of video editing stands for a process that produces a personally edited movie using raw material from a video camera. The filmed material, which may include digitize video material from old VHS cassettes, is edited at home on a PC with corresponding software so that individual sequences are cut to the desired length, placed in the proper sequence, or simply removed. A program like MAGIX Movie Edit Pro edits the filmed raw data (also in HD video quality, of course) and adds effects so that a presentable film may be exported with the correct codec.

Video editing and other editing options

The ultimate goal of editing video material to produce a film that is suitable for presentation to one's peers, friends, and family. Removal of shaky scenes, shortening of recorded sequences, and highlighting with stylistic music all has one purpose: To make the final product more interesting for potential viewers. This may also be achieved via the digital white balance, which normalizes the color temperature of the filmed material. Another popular technique is the greenscreen process, which allows the background in the video to be replaced by another image.

If multiple cameras have been used (e.g. at a wedding reception or family celebration), then multiple videos may be processed via multicam editing. Manual processing of material from multiple video sources is usually a complex and time-consuming process for many other home video editing programs, but MAGIX Movie Edit Pro and its semi-professional cousin, MAGIX Video Pro X, offer one of the easiest and probably the fastest solutions on the market. Besides uploading to YouTubeTM, DVD or Blu-ray Disc are also suitable presentation media. MAGIX video editing solutions also make it easy to design a matching menu, and from the first editing stages to creating a DVD, these programs from MAGIX offer everything needed for enriching raw film material.
